From 10am to 6pm on Feb. 27, you’ll see painting and cooking demos while sampling treats and beverages.
Saturday Morning, Feb. 27:
Nancie King Mertz will create an original oil as you watch and ask questions about the process. This is especially fun for non-painters! She’ll start around 10am. See her new works too…
Rene from Learn, Cook, Eat will be here from 10-noon to show you some quick and easy knife skills you can incorporate into your preparation making your cooking more “artful”. She’s often included in the demo features at Whole Foods.
Saturday Afternoon, Feb. 27:
Nancie will explain her loose underpainting technique as she layers pastel over the surface to create a completed pastel painting before your eyes.
Julie Sulzen , at 1pm, will share her years of oil painting expertise as she demos her style on canvas. Her moody Chicago paintings are rich in color and subtle in theme.
Give Me Some Sugar will demo from 1-3pm how to properly cut and ice a cake and show you how a piping bag is used with basic techniques. Chef Alekka from Give Me Some Sugar has been featured on 190N, WGN Morning News, Rachel Ray’s Everyday Magazine and the Chicago Tribune. She was recently on the Style Network’s Guliana and Bill show teaching Guliana how to cook.
